Haitian Diplomat Removed from Miami Consulate Over CV Controversy

Haitian Diplomat Removed from Miami Consulate Over Resume Controversy

In a surprising turn of events, Laetisia Bélizaire, the young diplomat heading Haiti's Consulate General in Miami, has been recalled by the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The decision comes in the wake of a scandal involving allegedly unverified academic credentials on her resume.

Bélizaire, 34, is reportedly unable to provide evidence for a study mentioned in her CV, according to a source close to the matter. This discrepancy has led to her swift removal from the prestigious diplomatic post in Miami.

The Haitian government has moved quickly to fill the vacancy. Antonio Réginald Victor-Louis, recently appointed as Minister Counselor at the Haitian Embassy in Washington, has been named as Bélizaire's replacement. Victor-Louis has already assumed his role as Acting Head of Post at the Miami Consulate.

As of now, Bélizaire has not publicly commented on the allegations or her removal from office. The incident raises questions about vetting processes for diplomatic appointments and the importance of verifiable credentials in international relations.

This development may have broader implications for Haiti's diplomatic corps and could prompt increased scrutiny of appointments to key positions in the country's foreign service.
