The Bandits Return to the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH)

Just 24 hours after Prime Minister Garry Conille, alongside CP Gérald Gilles and the Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH), Rameau Normil, visited the Hospital of the State University of Haiti (HUEH) and proclaimed a complete takeover by the authorities, the hospital once again fell victim to a bandit incursion.

On Wednesday, the tranquility of the hospital premises was shattered as reports surfaced of armed bandits making their way onto the grounds. The sound of automatic gunfire echoed outside the hospital, causing panic and fear among patients, staff, and visitors. In a bold and brazen move, the bandits broke down the gates that were meant to protect the facility, highlighting a severe lapse in security and a blatant disregard for the recent governmental assurances of safety and order.

The announcement made by PM Garry Conille and his high-ranking officials had come as a beacon of hope for many. Their visit to HUEH was meant to symbolize a new era of security and stability for the hospital, which has been a frequent target of criminal activity. The presence of the Prime Minister, CP Gilles, and DG Normil was intended to reassure the public and the hospital community that the government was in control and committed to protecting this vital institution.
